APLA offers congratulations for the success of the first phase of local authorities' elections

The executive committee of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) expressed its pride in the flow of the first phase of the local authorities' elections smoothly without any violations or breaches, appreciating the role of the Central Elections Commission and security forces for the clear efforts they made in securing the flow of the electoral process. This was during the meeting held at APLA's HQ in Ramallah, chaired by APLA's President, Eng. Musa Hadid and in presence of the member of the Executive Committee and Executive Director, Eng. Abdallah Anati.

The executive Committee emphasized the importance of completing the second phase of local elections, and working on enhancing the efforts made to conduct it in Gaza Strip, in response to the public demand of citizens there, as it constitutes an entry point to giving back regard to the democratic process at all levels. It called for the urgency of enhancing the work on increasing the level of citizens' interest in participating in the second phase of elections as a vital mechanism for enhancing the democratic process.

The executive board pointed out that representation of women and youth in the electoral lists does not reflect the national and societal role played by these groups throughout the stages of national struggle, calling for giving back regard to the roles of these key social groups, through guaranteeing their integration in advanced positions on the lists.

On another hand, APLA's President, Eng. Hadid introduced the Executive Committee to APLA's MAAP, which is a translation of APLA's strategic plan and in preparation for the upcoming strategy. Whereas, the executive committee approved the report of the independent audit and APLA's financial data for 2020, in addition to a set of files and issues covered in APLA's financial committee report. Furthermore, it discussed a group of regulations and laws related to the work of local authorities, and the developments to the Local Authorities Courts Law, occupational licensing fees, property tax, and fiber networks.
