The Financial Management Hub Organize a Workshop Titled “Increasing Local Authorities Revenues”

The Financial Management Hub has carried out a workshop titled "Increasing Local Authorities Revenues" at the city of Ramallah, in the presence of the Association of Palestinian Local Authority (APLA) President Eng. Mousa Hadid along with a group of Local Authorities mayors and Members, and Financial Managers from different municipalities, to continue the Technical Hub activities among the Palestinian Local Authorities.

Eng. Hadid began the workshop by stating the sensitivity and vitality of the workshops’ subjects, pointing out the great challenges before Local Authorities particularly financial issues. Eng. Hadid also touched on the various municipalities role in the local economic development, and the importance of discussing it in the upcoming workshops.

GIZ's Local Governance Reform Program Deputy Manager Mr. Jihad Shakhshir highlighted the significance of these hubs and its role in supporting the Local Authorities in all financial aspects, thus, providing improved services to the public.

 The workshop targeted both Financial Managers and municipal staff involved in the financial management of more than 20 Local Authority, in which they discussed utilizing renewable energy to increase Local Authorities revenues, shedding the light on Tobas Municipality. Nablus Municipality efforts in trying to improve revenue collection efficiency were also mentioned in the workshop along with Beit Jala Municipality experience in waste system development, and Hebron Municipality experience in activating the inactive revenues in the municipalities.

More issues were raised in regards to improving and promoting municipality revenues by representatives of the Ministry of Local Governance and the Municipal Development and Lending Fund.
